Organ

The organ installed in the concert hall of the Lublin Philharmonic is the work of the well-known and widely appreciated Alexander Schuke company, operating since 1820 in Potsdam. The design of the voices of the instrument was made by the head of the company, Matthias Schuke, and the final shape of the sound was consulted by the then organist of the Philharmonic, Robert Brodacki. The organ has 51 voices (including 10 lingual pipes), 3 manuals and a pedal, a mechanical playing track and an electric register control system, and the total number of pipes is 3904.

A great convenience for the performer are the 64 Setzer combinations (made by Heuss and using electronic memory), which give the ability to quickly change entire sound plans with just one button. The crescendo roller allows for smooth dynamic changes by gradually adding or disconnecting all organ voices, while closing one of the instrument’s sections (Schwellwerk) in the expression box and placing it in the rear recess allows for subtle shading of colors controlled from the third manual. The whole is complemented by an effective, but also very practical, organ front, which, on the one hand, is a beautiful, central decorative accent of the stage, and on the other hand, by suspending the instrument on a steel frame, it minimally reduces its usable space.

From the artistic point of view, the sound shape has been conceived in such a way that it is possible to perform old French and German music in style, as well as late-style old French and German music, as well as late Romantic and contemporary French literature, which – due to the frequent use of very sublime sets colors – puts relatively the highest demands on organs and organists. Also, connecting the individual sections of the instrument to the appropriate manuals (Schwellwerk – III, Unterwerk – II, Hauptwerk – I) serves to perform the widest possible range of organ literature in a maximum faithfulness.
